It is January in London, 1900. A time of change, progress and possibility: electricity, the phonograph, the telephone, and the motion picture. And in this cold and dark first month of a new century, lawyer Gabriel Utterson (Carl Randolph) has just heard a disturbing story from Lord Ashton (Howell Roberts).

Ashton, returning home late one night, witnesses a man viciously trample a little girl in the street. Apprehending the monster, Ashton makes him pay the girls family. This evil creature, calling himself Edward Hyde, returns with a check made out for a large sum of money. But the greater shock for Ashton is noticing whose signature endorsed the check: that of his respected colleague, Dr. Henry Jekyll (Mark Redfield).

Utterson is also alarmed, as Jekyll is a friend as well. Who is Edward Hyde? Is he blackmailing Henry Jekyll -doctor and philanthropist-who spends great amounts of his personal fortune helping the sick and poor? But Utterson carries a dark secret, for as Jekyll's lawyer, he alone knows that in his will, Jekyll has left everything to this mysterious Edward Hyde. A man no one knows, who seems to vanish into the night at will…

Thus begins the dark journey for Gabriel Utterson, to play detective and try and find out who Hyde is. And the terrifying and tragic downfall of Henry Jekyll, whose experiments with the human soul-to find a biological basis for morality in mankind-has unleashed a demon upon the face of the earth in the form of his alter ego, Edward Hyde. Utterson's fears mount as he watches Jekyll's world implode: the suicide of Jekyll's fiancée Miriam (Kosha Engler); the senseless killing of her brother Mordecai, (R. Scott Thompson) (seemingly at the hands of Hyde), and the brief encounter with the mysterious Claire Caine (Elena Torrez), a woman of the night, who quickly falls into the sadistic claws of Edward Hyde.

From London's fog-shrouded back alleys to the palaces of the rich, Jekyll's obsessions and Hyde's destructive lusts combine to make a cocktail of mayhem, madness and finally, murder.

This thrilling new adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson's classic story is from Redfield Arts. A dark fairy-tale with equal parts of mystery, horror, drama and black comedy, this re-telling will appeal to a wide audience, both young and old.
